    1. [FLORIDA] Capt Jack Carter 3rd Indian War
    2. Can anyone tell me about Capt Jack Carter of Roger's Roegh (sp?)of Florida Calvary Volunteers 1857-58? Was he from St Johns County, Fl and possibly the son of Isaac Carter? Does any one know why Volunteer soldiers would have gone from Volusia County to PortTampa to enlist in the 3rd War? Do any of you know how the units were formed? Did these people all know or were related to each other or know or related to the Capt? I have never been able to obtain information on my ancester who served with Capt Jack Carter. I have looked at the Microfilm for his Volunteers and there is very little, if any genealogical information contained therein. I have tried to find information of Capt Carter and on the area (Palm Hammock) in the Everglades that they fought the Indians at. I have looked at the information on the web on the 3rd Indian War in that area. Now I wonder if my ancester is related to Capt Carter. Does anyone have ideas? Thank you so much. Gloria
