The West Gadsden Historical Society, a non-profit organization, was formed to preserve the history of the western portion of Gadsden Co., Florida and interpret its history to the public. The Society has purchased the historic James A. Dezell House in Greensboro, Gadsden Co., Fla., and is working to restore the house for use as its headquarters and as a local museum. The museum will promote the history of west Gadsden County. Anyone who is interested in the history of the area, including Chattahoochee, Mt. Pleasant, Hardaway, Sycamore, Sawdust, and Providence communities is invited to join the WGHS and aid in the preservation of pictures, artifacts, and memories of times gone by. Membership dues are $25 per year. The Society will be sponsoring fund raising activities with a goal of paying off the mortgage on the house. If you would like to learn more about the WGHS or the Dezell House please send a message to Linda Smith at dogtown@mchsi.com.
