    3. Have you checked the city directories from 1910 forward? Once you find the approximate time of death (he will no longer be listed in the directories), you could then check the Florida Times-Union Indexes for an obit. If one is available, it might give you more info. Unless he moved. Did he have children in another area that he might have gone to live with? 2. Pam Cooper
    3. Kathy: Both the 1935 and 1945 census can be found at many libraries throughout Florida. From memory, the following libraries own the microfilm: Florida State Archives Jacksonville Public Library John F. Germany Public Library - Tampa Indian River County Main Library Vero Beach Miami-Dade Public Library Orlando Public Library P. K. Yonge Library of Florida History - Gainesville University of West Florida - Pensacola I think this would be a good project for the Florida State Genealogical Society to put on their web site the locations of the 1935 and 1945 census. There are several census web sites that tell you which census have been transcribed by state and county. http://www.census-online.com/links/ http://censuslinks.com/ http://www.rootsweb.com/~census/ In addition, the Florida GenWeb has some of the transcribed census in their archives. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/fl/flfiles.htm Can anyone else on this list tell us if your library has this census? Unfortunately, WorldCat and other library catalogs do not reflect the true status of the census locations due to the fact that many libraries have not cataloged them. You need to call the library to find out. Pam Pamela J. 1. Re: ?? State Census
    2. Hello Florida, The 1935 Florida Census for Brevard County is currently being transcribed by the Brevard Genealogical Society (BGS) and members of the North and South Brevard Genealogical Societies. When complete it will be added to our website at http://rootsweb.com/~flbgs/. The 1885 Brevard Florida Census is already transcribed and online at: http://rootsweb.com/~flbgs/census/1885/index.html. BGS has also paid S-K Publications to have the 1850 - 1930 Federal Population Censuses for Brevard scanned and uploaded to RootsWeb. These are located at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/fl/brevard/census/ Most of the Federal Census has been transcribed and is available online at more that one site. Often even the subscription sites can be freely accessed at your local library. But the State Census is not as easily available. I would like to suggest that other Florida Genealogical Societies take on the project and transcribe the extant Florida Censuses for their own counties. The transcription could be added to your own website or to the FL GenWeb Archives or any website. 3. William, The 1935 and 1945 State Census are available to the public although there are some precincts missing. The state archives has a copy as does various public libraries around the state. The Family History Library, though, does not have a copy of either. You might want to look at Ann S. Lainhart's book "State Census Records" (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1992). If you post a query to the FL county list that you are interested in, you might find someone with the information for that particular county.
