My heartfelt thanks to all of you who responded to my inquiry about the Florida Stalking Law. I have forwarded the info on to the person who needs it. Once again thanks for your prompt and helpful replies. Emma in NM
Can anyone tell me if Florida currently has a "Stalking Law" I guess you could call this a genealogy thing as a dear close relative needs to know. Thanks, Emma in NM
The IGI or International Genealogical Index at the LDS Family Family history centers has many of the marriage records prior to 1900 which have been extracted by volunteers from the original records that were microfilmed by the LDS church. I am sure Jackson county and many other West FL counties have been done. Its free, enjoy! I would also be interested in a census for 1895 especially for Monroe and Hillsborough Counties. Do they exist at the State level? Cheryl
Cheryl, According to Ann S. Lainhart in the Florida section of STATE CENSUS RECORDS, published in 1992, *The following is a list of the remnants of the earlier censuses that still exist . . .1895: Nassau County has been published by the Jacksonville Genealogical Society . . .* That leads one to believe that other counties' censuses for 1895 don't exist, or at least the author wasn't aware of any. ?? Hello Hellen and other list members, Some of the state census records still survive. The last one is 1945 and unlike the federal census you can view it now. The State Archives has a copy of the microfilm. I do not know where else it is available. There is some information about what is available that was originally located on the Archive web site but seems to have been removed. A copy of it is available Through either the Wakulla or Franklin county GenWeb sites. The page URL is: < http://www.psy.fsu.edu/~thompson/info/fl_census.html > Hope this helps, Ron Wakulla County FL GenWeb < http://mailer.fsu.edu/~rthompso/wakulla.html > Franklin County, FL GenWeb < http://mailer.fsu.edu/~rthompso/franklin.html > Civil War Soldiers of Florida < http://www.psy.fsu.edu/~thompson/fl_acw/fl_acw.html> Antique Engines, Genealogy, Puzzles < http://mailer.fsu.edu/~rthompso/Ron-page.html >
Does anyone know about 1895 census? I've heard of extant censuses (censi??) for Nassau and, I think Orange Counties. Does anyone know of existant ones for Suwanee or Hamilton?? Paul M. Hendricks

Helen, Florida's state censuses are located at the Florida State Archives (Public Records Unit, Florida State Archives, Department of State, R.A. Gray Building, Tallahassee, FL 32399-0250) and may be searched there. Some precincts of some counties are missing. I understand that Family History Centers DO NOT have these censuses. Microfilmed copies of the censuses may be purchased from FL Archives. This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --------------FFB3253C112BB5182B4D0527 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit There is both a 1935 and a 1945 Florida State Census available on microfilm. The master copy is held at the Florida State Archives, and other libraries have purchased copies from them for their collections. Here at Bay County Public Library we have the 1935 for Holmes and Bay and the 1945 for Bay. I think Jacksonville Public Library has a complete set, and I'm sure Pam Hall must have one at Indian River. Anybody else? Gerton@aol.com wrote: > > Is the Fl.
