    1. Children born in Florida State Hospital Chattahoochee
    2. We know from cemetery records that many babies were born at the Florida State Hospital in Chattahoochee. Some of the babies died and are buried in the cemeteries on the Hospital property. What happened to the babies that lived? Were they put in an orphanage? Were they put up for adoption? The men and women lived separately, yet they worked together and were together for certain social functions. Thanks for any input here. Betty

Where would I be able to track this information and would I be able to establish who may have been some of the managers.I already have the name of the owner but I think my husband's relative Francis Bridier may have worked there after having lost his property in St. Augustine. Any ideas? Thanks in advanced. Judy Rollins, Jacksonville Florida.

In addition to Filby's numerous volumes of passenger list indexes, there is a separate bibliography which gives the listing in full for these citations. The citation "Smith--Emigrants from France to America" is not enough information for any librarian to order this on interlibrary loan. The actual citation is: Smith, Clifford Neal. 2. I recently purchased a briefcase from a thrift store here in Mobile, AL. Inside the briefcase was an old faded photograph taken approximately 1940s of an African American woman who looks to be in her late twenties or early thirties. The back of the photo bears the name "Amanda Dailey." I was told this briefcase came from the Pensacola, FL., area. If you know who this woman is or need additional information please contact me.

    3. My great grandparents, Henry and Maud Luella Wey OYER moved to Citra about 1885. They had purchased land there in 1884. He was the justice of the peace and the postmaster--I do not know how long or when. They had 3 children living at this time, Tracie, Herbert Maurice and Maud. They are listed in the 1900 Citra Marion Fla Census By 1910 they had moved and are listed in the St. Lucie Florida Census. I would appreciate hearing from anyone about Citra in those years. Is there are history of this area? Maud's parents, William H and Permelia A. WEY died in 1885/6 and are buried in the Citra Cemetery. Is there someone who could take a picture of the graves for me? I would gladly pay the going rate. Thanks in advance for any information about CITRA or the OYERs. Sheila from Alaska casperfamily@mosquitonet.com

    1. WORTHINGTON, Ida Lee b. 1861-1865 Knox Hill, Florida
    2. Mary Jane Pattillo
    3. Hi All: I am trying to find information on my great aunt, Ida Lee WORTHINGTON. What I have is as follows: ------------------------------- IDA LEE WORTHINGTON (WORTHINGTON1)1 was born September 07, bet. 1861-1865 in Knox Hill, Walton Co., Florida, and died October 06, 1943 in Poncho De Leon, Holmes Co., Florida. She married DAVID CROCKETT STANDLEY2 January 07, 1903 in Holmes County,Florida, son of DAVID STANDLEY and PATIENCE FAIRCLOTH. I found Ida first in the 1870 Census of Washington Co., Florida: -------------------- 1870 Census of City of Vernon, Washington Co., Florida Page 849 McDermit, Bryant Age 66 Julia Age 33 Lay Nancy Age 15 Worthington, Ida Age 9 (birth year 1861?) -------------------- My grandfather, Johnnie McDermott, said that Ida was his sister. If this is true, Julia McDermit may be her mother. Ida was born between 1861 and 1865, probably at Knox Hill, Florida. I am assuming that if Julia is Ida's mother that she was previously married to a WORTHINGTON. Any information or clues on finding out who Ida's parents were and verification of her place of birth would be much appreciated. Johnnie McDERMOTT and his sister, Mary Annie McDERMOTT, were orphaned some time around 1879 in Vernon, Washington Co., Florida. Johnnie was raised by Christian GILLIS CAMPBELL, widow of John CAMPBELL, of Walton County. Mary was raised by James McLEAN and Catherine GILLIS McLEAN, also of Walton County. Both Johnnie and Mary attended the Knox Hill Academy and were pupils of Stuart Knox GILLIS. Ida was apparently old enough to live and work for families in Washington County and later Holmes County as a servant. Family history says that the GILLIS sisters were friends of the McDERMIT/McDERMOTT or possibly WORTHINGTON family. If this is true, the McDERMIT/McDERMOTT family may have also lived in the Knox Hill area at sometime. Both Ida, Johnnie and Mary list their mother's place of birth as Florida. Ida lists her father's place of birth as Florida also. Johnnie and Mary list their father's place of birth as Ireland. Does anyone have access to any records between 1860 and 1870 who could check to see if there is any reference to Ida, Julia or Bryant? Your assistance would be very much appreciated. Mary Jane Pattillo
