    3. Hi, On the Volusia Co. FL GenWeb page, on the yellow blocks, there is a section for "Lookup Volunteers". I noticed there was a guy named Bill Morgan, who said he had the West Volusia Co. Cemetery books, and was willing to do lookups. Hollywood Cemetery is in Orange City, which is in West Volusia, so maybe he'd be able to help. The web address is: http://www.totcon.com/users/ke4ho/ Hope this helps! Christine in Sanford, FL Richard H. 3. Hi, If you go to the Volusia County page of the Florida GenWeb, there is an address under the section of "Volusia Co. Obit Lookups & Vital Records", and they have a place to write that will send you a copy of the obit for $3.00. Hope this helps, if there isn't anyone on the list that has access for you. 3. Pat, The University of Florida has a microfilm collection of old Florida newspapers. The collection is of what was found so most papers are not continuous unless they are major newspapers. The University of Florida is in Gainesville. I found searching their online catalog "The Dayton Daily News" which began 1903 and ceased 1926. They have a microfilm record of Jan. 1, through Feb. 27 for 1922. 3. Have you ever had a genealogy snailmail letter returned? I have and with the price of postage, it's annoying when the postmas doesn't even check off whether the person has moved, or whatever... This is another approach to determine what happened to the person you were writing. Try contacting their neighbors and asking about them. Use this idea... You can even check out your own neighborhood. Another one... When you do a telephone search on the Internet and just put in someone's street name and city and town--don't put in any kind of name, you can see who all the neighbors are that have a "listed" phone. My son has just moved to Duluth, Georgia and I decided to see who lived in his neighborhood--in case I ever needed to call anyone and low and behold, I got the whole neighborhood. Some people aren't listed because they have "unlisted" telephone numbers. Ceya Reminder@snowhill.com Pass this idea along to other groups. ============================================================ ===========

    1. Thank-yous
    2. Lucas
    3. I just wanted to share with others that I was kicked off of the GA mailing list by Adrianne Hopkins for sending a single thank-you to all the people who helped me recently. I had been monitoring the list for a year and this is the first post I made and seems it will be the last! I appreciate seeing thank-yous so I know others have received help and were not ignored. That is what helped me post in the first place, only to be shot down for saying thank-you Seems politeness is breaking the rules. Thanks to everyone here for listening, I am still in shock at the rude and abrupt situation that just occurred!! Please forgive this but I do not know any other people who would understand as readily as another list where I have received help several times and said thank-you without fear of retaliation. Cindy Brownsville, TX -----------This is the way the whole thing transpired!------------------ (my original post) Hi all, I was wondering if someone would have World Family Tree Volume #10 and be willing to send the tree #2347. I am particularly interested in the name Breare-Land. I already have found the census record if this goes with Charles Land and I believe he adopted or had as a stepson Breare. Anyone else interested in the Breares I would love to share information with you. Thanks for everyones help, Cindy ---------------My Thank-you to the list--------------- I want to say thank-you to all those who responded with the offers to send the FTM file, some were even kind enough to attach it and send it straight through. Everyone was so generous and helpful, kindest blessings to all!! I hope I responded personally to each of you. Thanks again, Cindy -------------Ms. Hopkins response to my thank-you------------------- I must ask you not to continue to post PERSONAL MESSAGES on the GA list. Because of the size of the list the rules have to be adhered to. I hope you understand and won't add any more to this type of message being delivered to the list. I appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter. Adrianne GA Listowner -------------------My private response to Ms. Hopkins----------------- Ms. Hopkins, My message was to all people on the list who offered to help and to let others know help is available if one asks. After all the BS I see flying around on this list, I did not see a general thank-you as breaking the rules. I am responding to let you know that you have now taken a positive experience and put a sour note on it. Cindy -------------My subsequent banning from the list------------------- Some people can't see the forest for the trees! You are not the only person on this list and I have to take into consideration EVERYONE and not just one person. You have been taken off the list! GA LISTOWNER

    3. Good News! The 1790-1870 AISI census indexes are now up. They are available through www.ancestry.com. Unfortunately, you must be a member, but at this rate if they keep this up, I would definitely pay. Remember, the AISI indexes are not perfect. They still do not have the past errors corrected. But, this is a great start because they are asking you to help them by providing the corrections as you find them. They also have the American Genealogical and Biographical Index which indexes hundreds of family histories, the Boston Transcripts and the 1790 census. You cannot miss this! Have fun!
