Looking for information and descendents of the James A. Thomas family of Polk Co. Fl. James Married Fannie Roberts abt. 1886, probably in Polk Co. Fl. since their first child was born in Polk Co. Fl in 1887. In the 1900 Polk Co. census they were living in precinct 12 two house down from her sister Lucinda Mimbs and family. This was in the west Lake Wales area as far as I can determine. James and Fannie were in the Arbuckle area in precinct 17 when the 1910 census was taken. He was a farmer. Their children were; John, Ethel, Jefferson, Belle, Clara, Joseph, Benjamin, and Robert. These were listed in the 1910 census. I think that the parents of James A. Thomas was James Thomas and Rhoda J. Cowart Thomas, who are buried in the Glover Cem near Auburndale. Any help will be greatly appreciated. There were five of the Roberts sisters and there are three of us 3rd cousins that meet and compare notes on family. Would like to meet other cousins, descendents of the fives sisters. Thanks again. J.D. Cash (Denton) Wauchula Fl. jdcash@hardee.4ez.com

The best thing about this library is that it's possible to obtain borrowing privileges as a Special Borrower and check out most items for 3 weeks. Better yet, you can renew items by e-mail for up to five additional 3 week periods unless another borrower has requested the item. Some books that I can use only in the Genealogy Room at the downtown Miami Library I have gone right to the stacks here and checked them out. Great choices such as Nugent's Cavaliers and Pioneers, some of the books of Minutes of the Council of Virginia (early years), etc. Real Treasures! Marlene Christmas McLean @aol.com
My parents and brother worked at that ship yard during the war. My brother has received $15,000 from the law suit for asbestos poisoning---I guess it's a class action----because of his working on the ships. My mother died of emphysema and, although she smoked, we feel it was exacerbated by the asbestos poisoning. Your friend might want to check this out. Hello, You are invited to join the RootsWeb-sponsored mail list STANALAND-L, a list dedicated to discussion of STANALAND families (and all variations of spelling) in any place and at any time. To subscribe, send a message to STANALAND-L-request@rootsweb.com (for mail mode) or to STANALAND-D-request@rootsweb.com (for digest mode) that contains (in the body of the message) the command subscribe and no additional text. Realizing that STANALAND researchers (and researchers of variant spellings) constitute a fairly small group in terms of the usual RootsWeb mailing list membership, your interest and participation will be especially important and appreciated. So please join us! Warm regards, Jennifer Jacksonville, FL jennifer@leading.net

Sue Ann, Here is what I know of. A map of Gainesville: http://bubba.ifas.ufl.edu/www/GNV.HTM The Libraries are on the campus (the green) at the intersection of US-441 and University Avenue. There are parking lots near the libraries, but first you need to visit a Campus Police kiosk to get: (1) a parking pass, (2) a great campus map and (3) advice where to park. The Libraries are the Library West and the Smathers Library. You can find them on a website map: http://bubba.ifas.ufl.edu/www/ufcampus.html . The Libraries website is: http://www.uflib.ufl.edu/uflib.html which includes a catalog and tons of other information. The Special Collections is well worth a look too. Sue Ann, When I go to the UF library at Gainesville, I go north on 441, which is SW 13th Street, turn left on West University Ave., drive PAST the library, which is on the south side of West University, or to the left. A block or two further, turn right and then left on (I think) W. 1st Ave., where there is a pay parking lot. I have never found a parking spot at the library itself; I'm told one has to be there very early in the day for that. Kathleen kmarsh@innet.com
If anyone has FTM CD #237, I would greatly appreciate someone doing a look up for me. I am looking for a marriage in Ga. for Henry B. Young. I think his bride will be Sophronia King but want to be sure this is correct. I also need the county and date of marriage. I will certainly appreciate the help. Thanks, Rhonda
Can anyone tell me if any Miami obituaries are online and where I could find them? I found the Miami Herald, but can find archieved obituaries. Thanks, Bonnie in Panama City
Tom, Could you (or someone else on the list) give me exact directions to the library at UF? I'll be in the Gainesville area in July and may want to go there. Is there good parking there too? I'll try this again. Can't imagine how it was sent (and rejected) the first time in HTML, because I do have my mail formatted for plain text. Anyway, I found this interesting. Hope you do, too..... Peggy http://www.sltrib.com/1999/mar/03061999/utah/88438.htm
