Does any one have a Tucker - Delaney Connection? I have a James Tucker, born 1830-33, lived Putnam County1850-1856, and Orange County Fl, from 1860-1899 who had a cousin named Delaney. I do not know if this is a first or last name. He married a Mary Osteen in Putnam County abt 1856. Between then and 1860 they lived in Spring Garden (DeLeon Springs) and 1860 in Mellonville and then stayed in Orange County until he died in 1899. Does anyone have any Tuckers living in Florida 1850-1899 who had connections to the Family name Green/e? Anyone with Tuckers living in the Pease Creek area of Florida between 1840-50, Orlando, Longwood or Maitland located in Orange or Seminole Counties Florida 1860 to current? This James Tucker had descendents who married into the Brown's, Banks, Redditts, Osteens, O'Hara, White, Smith and Rutkin lines identified as follows: There is a Josephine Tucker who was the daughter of Nellie Banks and Philip Tucker. She probably lived in Volusia County but am not sure who or if she married. Her mother Nellied died when she was 5 months old in 1917. Lilly (Mrs. L.W.) O'Hara was living in Chiefland in 1996 and in Apopka in 1970. Rose ( Mrs. W.W.) White was living in Orlando in 1996. Frances Smith lived in Jacksonville in 1970. Patricia Rutkin lived in Tampa in 1990. Maude Tucker lived in Altamonte Springs in 1970. In 1994 there were Larry W, and Lonnie G Brown living in Orlando and Kenneth D Brown living in Winter Park and a Jacob Brown in Casselberry. I would like to reach any of these people if they are still living or any of their children. There is a Mary Osteen who married Leon Tucker in Orange County Fl in 1928. What family of Osteens did she come from? These Tuckers must have died prior to 1970 as I have no information on them. Leon was a brother of Lilly O'Hara and Rose White. Lastly, my James Tucker had a sister Elizabeth who may or may not have married a Whitlock. She was also lived the Pease Creek and Longwood areas. Then she may have lived in Ft Pierce or Miami. I would certainly appreciate any and all the help I can get. James Tucker was my great-great grandfather. Thanks you so much. Gloria

Hi... The info that I posted for George W. Carroll may not be the correct George Carroll...I decided to look into the census and stuff and found out that the George I posted was a bit older than the George I wanted.....The George in what i posted was 35 in the 1920 census and the George I wanted would have been about 29 in the 1920 census. So that seems to be the wrong George in the info I posted. So I guess I am back to where I started in trying to find info on George. This is what I now have on George W. Carroll..... He was born 02 Dec 1890 in Smithsburg, MD and died 12 Mar 1979 in Winter Haven, FL. His parents were Wilson Avey Carroll and Elizabeth Virginia (Jeannie) Sleamsman. I think I found him in the 1930 census....He was living in Fairfax, Virginia...the Centreville District....I do have an obit for Elizabeth that states at her death in 1932 that he was living at Clifton Station, VA. So he was in VA for a while before moving to FL....I have an obit for my great grandmother, his sister, Susan L. Carroll McPherson that he was living in Avon Park, Fl when she died. In the 1930 census that I found....this George was married to a Bessie V. Anyone with some helpful information on what I just posted, I appreciate any help that anyone can give. Stephanie Grohol
Hi... Well...thank you all for the generous offers for your help of those who have the Pioneer of Wiregrass books....I will take u all up on ur offers.... :-) I would like to know how far back does the books go for the marriages and the deaths of the Hersey and the Hodges families? I am descended from Thomas Hersey (1802-1907).....and I am also descended from William Henry Hodges....Does these books have a marriage and a death index? Or what do they have? Do they carry obits? What info do they have? I am looking for actual births and deaths if they have them and marriages....Do the books go past 1900 for marriages in FL and GA? If they have any marriage dates or death dates etc...would love to have them. Here is how I am connected to the Hodges and Hersey starting with me: Stephanie McPherson (jan 14, 1971) married Joseph B. Grohol Jr Donnie Lee Hodges (oct 1, 1944) married Carroll Walter McPherson Jr Clifford Hodges(Feb 22, 1904-Dec 18, 1973 in Macclenny, FL) married Allie Hersey(Apr 11, 1911-Apr 1, 1975 in GA) Joshua Hodges(Jun 1866 in Charlton Co., GA-died before 1920)married Courtney Victoria Crews(Jul 6, 1870 inCharlton Co., GA-Dec 22, 1949 in Baker County, FL) Willis Aaron Hodges(Aug 1, 1812 in Tattnall Co., GA - Aug 16, 1886 in Moniac, Cahrlton Co., GA)married Mahalia Johns William Henry Hodges June 19, 1770 in Kinston, North Carolina -Aug 24, 1849 in Tattnall Co., GA) married Ann Blitch. That is my Hodges connection...here is my Hersey connection: Allie Hersey married Clifford Hodges(not sure when they married...maybe 1936 or so) Jacob E. Hersey(Jun 17, 1877 in Coffee Co, GA-11 Nov 1963 in Alachua Co., FL) married Margaret Hersey( 1884 in Ware County, GA -? her death date is in question) Jacob married three times after Margaret: he married a Mytrice Aldridge(married 03 Mar 1922), a Mary(1930) and Maude Futch(1940). Jacob's father was Elkanah George Washington Hersey(18 May 1831 in Appling Co., GA - 07 Jun 1883 in Coffee Co., GA) and mother was Charlotte Surrency(1837- not sure of death) Margaret's parents were: Enoch Marion Hersey( June 1848-not sure of death) and Mary Bagley(1843, not sure of death) Elkanah and Enoch's parents were Thomas Hersey and Rebecca Spivey. If anyone has any information on the above info that I have given and can add to it would be great. As you can see, I am also connected to the Bagley's, the Surrency's, also connected to the Davis', the Lotts, the Roberts and more. I would love to know actual birth and death dates.....and actual marriage dates. Any information would be great. Appreciate any help.... Thanks again for the offers and for any help that anyone can give, Stephanie Grohol
Hi... Thank you all for answering my question....now...if I was able to to inter-library loan, would Huxford Genealogical society inter-library loan them to me through my local library? I live in PA, but would they anyway? Thank you again Stephanie Grohol
Hi... Isn't there a book out that has the name of Wiregrass in it? I think it has something to do with the Wiregrass areas of GA and FL? Appreciate any help.. Stephanie Grohol
Hi I am seeking information on George W. Carroll who was born 02 Dec 1890 in Smithsburg, MD and died 12 Mar 1979 in Winter Haven, FL. He married a Melissa and I would like to know her maiden name since I do not know it so I can look her info up. They had 5 children: they were: Viola born about 1905, Helen born abt 1907, George W. born abt 1909, Carl W. born 1914 and Raymond born abt 1915. I would appreciate any help in finding more exact information on this family. George was the son of Wilson Carroll and Elizabeth Sleasman. George was also my great grandmother, Susan Carroll McPherson's, brother. I only found George and family in the 1920 census so far. Any other help in the census area would help. I do know he died in FL....so maybe in the later census he is there...I am not sure....hopefully someone could help in my search. Appreciate any help... Stephanie Grohol

I'm hoping someone out there can help me with a problem I have. Besides having 4 gg grandfathers from FL that fought for the Confederacy, I recently discovered a great grandfather had fought for the Union. I wrote the National Archives for copies of his pension records only to be told they don't have it. These records are on file with the VA. I was given the file # and told to write to them. This letter from the Archives refers me to the VA Handbook 6300.1, Chapter 6, Part 5 for the "procedures for recall of records". Does anyone have any ideas on how to pursue this? I've tried calling but no one has returned my messages. Thanks, Jane
What year do you think he died? (1815 or 1915?) The Bureau of Vital Statistics, State Board of Health, P. O. Box 210, Jacksonville, FL has death certs incomplete from 1877-1917 and complete 1917 to present. If you could email back the correct year either this evening or first thing in the morning, I am planning on going to the Library after lunch and could look and see if there is a death cert for him (that would tell what county).
