Hi... I am currently researching Joshua Nelson West (Oct 1860-1914 or 1922) who married Harriett E. Johns (Oct 1860(or 1858) to either 1914 or 1922) on Apr 1882 in Clay Co, FL.... I am wondering if the death dates for these two are correct....they are both buried in Souder Cemetery, which I have as in Ornage Park, Clay Co, FL... Information that I have found says that he died 24 Jun 1914, but i found him still living in the 1920 Clay Co, FL Census...and he is widowed.....More info says that Harriett died 2 Jul 1922 in Clay Co, FL....but she is not listed as living in the 1920 census.... Appreciate any help in this research....thank you... Stephanie Grohol

Well, I have not done any kind of extensive research on these folks, so I am not really in a position to argue about it - I just sometimes jump in when folks have questions. Having said that, it definitely looks like Martha who married Wade Hampton Silcox was the daughter of Andrew and Martha to me. Here is why: 1. On the 1870 and 1880 census, Andrew and Martha have a daughter who is exactly the correct age to be Martha who married Wade. 2. I find no such Martha listed as a daughter of either William or Washington Johns (or any of the variations). 3. Wade H. and Martha Silcox named their first son Andrew J. Silcox. 4. In 1903, Andrew J. Johns' widow, Martha A. Johns, filed for a Widow's pension based on Andrew's Civil War Service. W. H. Silcox was one of two witnesses to the fact that Martha A. Johns was the widow of Andrew and that she owned less than $800 worth of property. My bet would definitely be on Andrew and Martha as Martha A. Johns Silcox's parents. Good hunting. Hi... I wanted to thank Jack Butler for the help he gave me in response for my asking for help in trying to locate Obediah and Fannie Phillips in the 1920 Census....I would never have guessed that they would have been living in Putnam Co, FL.... So thank you for the help and I appreciate it immensely..... Stephanie Grohol
Let me start by saying that I do not research this family or the surname - I just took a quick look to see if I could find anything. Call it a random act of genealogical kindness. Anyway, I found them in the 1920 census in Palatka Heights, Putnam County, Florida, SD 4, ED 149, Sheet 1B, page 184B, household 25, family 25, National Archives microfilm pub T625, Roll 228 O. H. Philips, Head, R, M, W, 39, M, born in Florida Fannie Philips, Wife, F, W, 39, M, born Florida Doris Philips, daughter, F, W, 11, S, born Florida I also noted that they were still in Clay County as of September 12, 1918, when Obediah Phillips signed a World War I Draft Registration card there. The registration gives his date of birth as 4 April 1881. And he was probably the Obediah Phillips that died in 1945 in Duval County. Good Hunting!
