Hello Let me start by saying that I am not researching the individuals mentioned in this e-mail. There are some headstones located in the forest (south of the Winn-Dixie located on E. Hwy 40) that appear to be part of an old family cemetery. There is no house nearby that could be associated with the cemetery but there was a fence which is now torn down. The following is inscribed on the headstones: Raymond Harold SIMS Sgt. US Army b. October 19, 1923 d. January 9, 1958 (could be 1953, it is legible on the headstone, I wrote it quickly) The following were on the same stone, opposite sides: Joseph L. SIMS b. 1876 d. Feb. ?, 1903 (something like Dearest Brother also inscribed) Elsie Wife of L. SIMS b. 1849 d. 1889 According to my friend, who found these headstones 15 +/- years ago, there were more headstones at that time. Vandals have actually dug up where the graves were. One of the headstones (Raymond SIMS) is propped up by a 2x4 because it was falling into the area where the vandals dug up the grave. I'm not sure that there is anything that can be done to preserve the area but if anyone is interested in the location, please let me know. Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to go about getting someone interested in preserving what is left of the headstones/cemetery, please drop me a line. Thank you Patti
