Regarding this C.A.M. Mitchel, he was the son of Caroline Putnam and Peter Mitchel, and was about 30 years old in 1850. He was in Ocala as late as 1853, and was married to Elizabeth Winn in 1851 in Alachua Co. He was living in St. Augustine, I believe, in the 1840s, and was a big supporter of the temperance movement. I believe he was a lawyer. Any information greatly appreciated. I feel now that the source of these articles confused Ebenezer's nephew Francis Eppes, editor of the Banner. When the names are corrected, the history fits all the facts that I have. Wouldn't be the first time this has happened. I have also discovered that Frank Harris and Ebenezer are even more closely tied by family. Ebenezer's wife was Sarah A.
