    3. This memo will be shorter than that of last year. If you're planning a vacation for an extended period of time, please consider unsubscribing before you leave and resubscribe when you return. I'm receiving upwards of 60 returned messages per day that are marked undeliverable or e-mail exceeds quota. This tends to slow done the system and delays messages from being delivered. 1. SIMS - Headstones in Ocala forest
    2. Patti
    3. Hello Let me start by saying that I am not researching the individuals mentioned in this e-mail. There are some headstones located in the forest (south of the Winn-Dixie located on E. Hwy 40) that appear to be part of an old family cemetery. There is no house nearby that could be associated with the cemetery but there was a fence which is now torn down. The following is inscribed on the headstones: Raymond Harold SIMS Sgt. US Army b. October 19, 1923 d. January 9, 1958 (could be 1953, it is legible on the headstone, I wrote it quickly) The following were on the same stone, opposite sides: Joseph L. SIMS b. 1876 d. Feb. ?, 1903 (something like Dearest Brother also inscribed) Elsie Wife of L. SIMS b. 1849 d. 1889 According to my friend, who found these headstones 15 +/- years ago, there were more headstones at that time. Vandals have actually dug up where the graves were. One of the headstones (Raymond SIMS) is propped up by a 2x4 because it was falling into the area where the vandals dug up the grave. I'm not sure that there is anything that can be done to preserve the area but if anyone is interested in the location, please let me know. Also, if anyone has any ideas on how to go about getting someone interested in preserving what is left of the headstones/cemetery, please drop me a line. Thank you Patti

    2. Roger Lee Owen
    3. Hello I am looking for information on the death of one of my gg aunts who I believe lived around the town of Candler in the early 1900's. Her name was Edna Sherod and her husbands was Robert W. Sherod. Edna was born in Kentucky in 1856 and later moved to Southern Illinois where she met and married Robert in 1874. They later at sometime moved to Florida. I have no exact dates for their deaths, but in a newspaper article from Southern Ill. on the death of Edna's marriage it stated that all the living children attended their mother funeral with the exception of one daughter who lived in Chandler Florida and was ill at that time. I looked for the name in Florida but could not find the town of Chandler and I believe that there may have been a typo and it could have been Candler. If someone can help me please e-mail me. Thanks for any help. Edna's maiden name was Owen. Roger Lee Owen SOUTHPARLO@msn.com Pontiac, MI

    1. Marriage Records From 1904
    2. Mankowski
    3. Hi Everybody, My name is Sarah Holly Mankowski and I'm the great-great granddaughter of William and Mary Holly, who came into Marion County in 1846. I live in Brevard County. I wonder if somebody with access to records in Marion could do me a huge favor? I am researching the life of my great grandmother Mary Elizabeth Daniel who married William Bradford Holly in 1888. After William Bradford's death, she married William Sturm. August 1, 1904. We had always assumed that she had left Marion, moving to Polk County, and met William Sturm. The Civil War pension application, however, says that she married William Sturm in Marion County August 1, 1904. If she married William Sturm in Marion, I think he must have come from that area. Is anybody familiar with the name Sturm? Could somebody check the marriage records for me? I'll be glad to look up information in Brevard. All the best, Sarah Read more about the Holly Family http://home.earthlink.net/~capsaicin/holly.html
