Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gZ.2ADI/267.2 Message Board Post: I attended Gwynne Institute 1961-1962. It was located very near the "downtown" section during this time period. The very large rooms were heated with radiators. The building was painted a off white as were the classrooms. During 1961-1962 the school was used for elementary grades. Quite a lot of the students during this time period had attended Edgewood Elementary the previous year. Edgewood was becomming over crowded so we were sent to Gwynne Institute. The following year I attended Orangewood so I can't say for a fact if Gwynne remained opened as a school or not. I do remember that as a school event we had a turtle race and the local TV station did coverage on it. So, there may have been something in the local paper also. I have know idea if a photo of the school was printed in the paper but if you want a copy of a photo the paper may be a good place to search.

In the mid to late 1960s I believe that it was used for storage by the School Board. After that I left town and don't know...
