I wrote about Flanders being 20 years older than my sister, Mary Jo. I should have said "to the day". Mary Jo was born April 25, 1937 so Flanders must have been born April 25, 1917-EXCEPT- I remember hearing that he added a year to his age to enable him to join something-maybe the National Guard? Maybe he was enrolling in the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp during the big depression of the 1930s) There are records available for this organization.
