Fl Obituaries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/LeeObits/10035 Surname: Lee ------------------------- Fort Myers News-Press August 26, 1942 _________________ WILEY LEE DIES SUDDENLY IN JAX _______ Wiley R. Lee, 64-year old former post office employee and furniture dealer, died suddenly yesterday in Jacksonville where he had gone to seek a government position. Although he had not been in robust health lately, he worked with the Florida racing commission last winter and went to Jacksonville expecting a new appointment. The body will be returned here on the morning train. Mrs. Nona Lee who accompanied her husband to Jacksonville will return here today by automobile with Mrs. Winnie Lee Trolan, her daughter, of Jacksonville. Other survivors are a son, Seth Lee, now on the high seas, a brother Ben Lee, of Fort Meade and a sister, Jessie Lee of Worthington Springs. Local funeral arrangements will be made by Spooner and Engelhardt. Mr. Lee was one of the best known men in Lee county, coming here to live 37 years ago from White Springs in North Florida. He soon accepted employment with the postoffice and was assistant postmaster to B.C. Foxworthy. They resigned together to open the Foxworthy & Lee Furniture company wich was active in business for many years on First Street. When this firm was dissolved, Mr. Lee was associated with several other furniture companies.

    1. [FLLee] Virus Warning
    2. Dawn Richardson
    3. I'm so sorry. It's taken me a little bit to figure out what was going on. I've just been blessed out by a million people and didn't have a clue why. I now understand that my husband received this warning and decided to send it out to everyone in our address book. I know this is inappropriate and would like to add that I've never forwarded info other than genealogy info, but in the same manner feel I need to apology for his behavior. He's been warned. Enough said, SORRY!!!!! Dawn

    3. I'm Forwarding this you from a genealogy mailing list: Subject: Virus Warning DO NOT OPEN "NEW PICTURES OF FAMILY" It is a virus that will erase your whole "C" drive. It will come to you in the form of an E-Mail from a familiar person. I repeat a friend sent it to me, but called & warned me before I opened it. He was not so lucky and now he cant even start his computer! Forward this to everyone in your address book. Also: Intel announced that a new and very destructive virus was discovered recently. If you receive an email called "FAMILY PICTURES," do not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link libraries (.all files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able to boot up.

    1. [FLLee] Mrs. Laura J. Thompson

    3. Posted on: Lee Co. Fl Obituaries Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Fl/LeeObits/10034 Surname: Thompson, Hendry ------------------------- Obituary posted in the Ft. Myers Press May 16, 1895. Died--At her home in this city, on Friday, May 11, of consumption. Mrs. J. Thompson, aged thirty-eight years, two months and nine days. Mrs. Thompson was the eldest daughter of Captain and Mrs. F. A. Hendry, and was born in Polk County, March 2, 1858. When quite young she came with her parents to Monroe, now Lee County, where she has ever since resided. June 22, 1873, she was married to Mr. C. W. Thompson and was the mother of four children, three of whom survive her, a son and two little daughters. Mrs. Thompson was a woman of unusual force of character keen perception and bright active intellect, which made her a strong and earnest advocate of whatever cause she espoused. For nearly twenty years she had charge of the telegraph office here, only resigning her duties when death claimed her. About eight years ago she became deeply interested in the temperance work of this county, and was instrumental in the organization of the W. C. T. U., of which she has ever since been an earnest and active member. A few years later, feeling the injustice done to the Seminole Indians she espoused their cause, and and has written some most excellent articles on that subject, which have been published in eastern papers. Had her health been better and circumstances surrounding her different she would have been a power for good, and it may appropiately be said of her "She hath done what she could." She fully realized her approaching end, and calmly and resignedly met it, calling to her bedside her children to whom she left tender messages, and bidding loving farewells to all her family, she peacefully crossed the river, finding it, as she neared the brink, neither wide nor deep. For her, death had no sting, the grave, no victory. In looking over a scrap book which she had compiled, and which so plainly shows a particular bent of her mind, we found a little gem from which we quote the following stanzas: ONE LESS AT HOME A sense of loss that meets us at the gate; Within's a place unfilled and desolate; And far away our coming to await, One more in Heaven. ONE LESS ON EARTH It's pain, its sorrow and its tolls to share; One less the pilgrim's cross to bear; One more the shining crown to wear, At home in Heaven. ONE MORE IN HEAVEN Another thought to brighten cloudy days; Another theme for boundless praise; Another link on high our souls to raise To Home and Heaven.

She may have been a resident of Cape Coral or > Fort Myers at the time of death. She is my cousin. > > Would greatly appreciate a look-up in the local newspapers or other records. Would the person who replied to this last posting of mine please send me the reply again? I have lost it. I know you said you did not find anything but I don`t recall if you said what records you searched? The ssdi shows: > MARY BRENAMAN 04 Jul 1905 25 Dec 1987 Last Residence 33940 > which is a zip code no longer in use. One postal worker suggested it might be Cape Coral(33904) but if not there then it would surely be in the Ft. Myers area. I also have learned that the Last Residence is not necessarily where the person lived at dod and certainly may not be where they were buried. Cousin Mary was listed in Uncle Cleve`s obit (1948) as a resident of San Franscisco. We have a1958 letter from her mother postmarked Pismo Beach, CA, which could have been the home of either Mary or her Mother at that time. When Mary lived in zip code 33940 is still a mystery. Does anyone have access to a 1987 city directory(Ft. Myers or Cape Coral), and would be willing to do a look-up for me? That would at least solve part of the mystery. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Charles Scarborough

    3. The above person is a cousin I am trying to locate. She lived with her stepmother, Bessie Sebeth, in N. Ft. Myers, married a William White who was a musician who worked on Cruise Ships, divorced him around 1982,, then (I think) lived in N. Miami Beach at 1401 N.E. Terrace, for a short while after her divorce, but I don't know what happened to her after that. As she was born in New York State prior to 1929, she may be deceased by now. Would be very grateful for any info. Oliver Wayne
