Esperanza was first-born of the 12 children of Manuel and Rosa Almas. Born on the Island of Cayo Costa on July 7, 1901, she lived 77 of her 91 years at Woodring Point. She spent three quarters of a century on Sanibel waters where she worked as a commercial fisherman and fishing and shelling guide. Predeceased by her husband, Samuel B., Sr. in 1942, she is survived by two sons, Preston R. Woodring, Sr of Ft. Myers and Ralph S. Woodring of Sanibel; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Her survivors also include sisters, Edith Reina of Tampa and Betty Lamason of Hawthorne, Nev.,; and brother, William Almas of Ocals. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 1992 at Fort Myers Cemetery. Family and friends may also pay last respects to Esperanza on her beloved Woodring Point at 1816 W! oodring Rd., at 4 p.m, Nov. 10, 1992...Funeral arrangements are by Harvey-Engelhardt Funeral Home. January 13, 1969 Samuel B. Woodring, 55, a lifetime resident of Sanibel island, died sunday afternoon. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Laura Darna of Puta Gorda; two step-brothers, Ralph woodring and Preston Woodring of Sanibel Island and his stepmother, Mrs. Esperanza L. Woodring of Sanibel. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Leo w. Engelhardt Funeral Home. April 27, 1942 Samuel B. Woodring, 61, pioneer Sanibel fisherman, died here yesterday after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Lorraine, daughter, Mrs. Laura Darna of Cayo Costa, 3 sons, Stanely and Samuel, Jr., of Sanibel and Preston, stationed at MacDill field in Tampa, a brother, Harrison Woodring of Sanibel and two sisters, Mrs. Alva C. Finney of Binghampton, N.Y. and Mrs. J. E. Morris of Fort Myers and 6 grandchildren. Services will be held at the Spooner and Engelhardt Funeral Home tomorrow at 2 o'clock with the Rev. R. E. Drymon officiating. Pallbearers will be Morris Mickel, T. M. Wiles, Belton Johnson, George Underhill, jr., Jake Stokes and Clarence Rutland. Honorary pallbearers will be Morris Michle, M. Johnson, Clyde Langford, Harry Stringfellow, John Boring, Bank Pearce, Ralph Hawkins, Webb Shanahan, Will Reed, Frank Smith and George Underhill, sr.

    3. Thought I would mention that this site on the email is pure fraud. Rootsweb seems unable to stop them. Examples of addresses they send under are Baker@baker.com, Brown@brown.com. I went to the site they have today to just see I could pick up on anything. I froze and went in circles. Had to CRTL ALT DEL to close. One woman today was fooled by them on another list. She was really upset. The Ancestry message board deletes them as quickly as they are found. He might be in the 1880. Curtis was my husband's father. He was just a baby when Jack Coleman died. He didn't know much about his father. It's a mystery. Patricia

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/gZ.2ADI/264.3.1.1 Message Board Post: Besides the 1900 info, I only have the 1920. 1920 Federal Census, Denaud, Precinct 1, Lee County, Florida, 24 February 1920 Coleman, Judith, HOH, 40, (no occupation), widowed , Marion, son, 18, day laborer , Lubbard, son, 16, day laborer , Louis, son, 15 , Arlitha, dau, 12 ,Curtis S., son, 10 It says they were all born in Florida. There really isn't as much info on the 1920 as there is on the 1900. I like the 1900 better. It shows how many children living, etc. The 1920 doesn't have that info. He is 39, she is 17. He was born Nov. 1860 in Georgia. She was born Oct 1882 in Florida. They are living in Dwelling number 124. Dwelling 159 has Thomas and Hortense Howard, with eight of their nine children. According to this info Juda (or Judith) had a twin, Sudie E. Also, found Judith Coleman in 1920 living with her five children. If you are interested in the rest of this info, let me know. I am not sure how much of this you already have. Brenda L. Jones

Do you by any chance know if there is a marriage record for Samuel Woodring and Esperanza Almas? I have the death certificate for him and his first wife, Aurora Aguilar. According to my mother Preston was born long before Esperanza married Sam and that Ralph was born after. Sam was still married to Aurora when Preston was born.
