Does anyone doing research in Jackson County have any information on the family of WILLIAM A. WHITFIELD? He is listed on the 1850 census as follows: WHITFIELD, WILLIAM A. 45 M Farmer ELIZABETH 36 FRANCES E. 19 JANE 17 WILLIAM W. 13 WILLIAM W. WHITFIELD was my g-g grandfather. I have very little information on him. I know he married ANN BRUNER (possible LEANNA MAE BRUNER). Their son, WILLIAM ELVIN WHITFIELD, was my great grandfather. WILLIAM W. is not on the 1870 Census. Quite possible that he died in the Civil War. Other Whitfield families that are likely connected are: B. V. WHITFIELD ) R. P. (REUBEN P.) WHITFIELD ) All on 1840 Jackson Co. Census S. B. (SEABORN BRITT) WHITFIELD ) These three also voted in the 1845 election at Campbellton. The earliest WHITFIELD reference on Jackson County is WILLIAM WHITFIELD who was on the 1825 census. There is a notation that his name also appears in courthouse records of Laurens Co., GA prior to 1825. WILLIAM WHITFIELD is also on the 1830 census. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with any Whitfield information. Thanks! Patsy Powell ppowell@neto.com
