It's real good to see something that'll bring me back home even in yankee county.(I'm from Panama City orginally but I'm living in Michigan now. :-) I have a question and I don't know if you can help or lead me to someone that can. There is a lady named Robin Braxton who has done a great deal of research into my grandfather side of the family on my mothers side (My grandfather was Curtis R.Braxton of Cottondale). My question concerns the last name(maiden)of my great-grandfathers wife. According to Robin my great-grandfather's name was James John Braxton and his wife's name was Georgia Anna Gilbert. I talked to my aunt, the last living relative in my family on my mothers side and she said that her last name was Wells, not Gilbert. My aunt also told me that she has the birth certificate of my grandfather and it says Wells. I used your Bride/Groom marriage database and found that a James John Braxton did indeed marry a Georgia Anna Wells on October 24, 1878 in Jackson Co. I called Robin and she said my aunt probably got the wrong certificate because on the LDS pedigree sheet it says her last name was Gilbert. I'm confused. Which one of these sources is more accurate? Did my aunt get the wrong birth certificate? Any help you could render would be much appreciated. Oh yes, I enjoyed reading the article about life back in Jackson Co. back in the 40's and 50's. My aunt said she started a note book of all the happening on the farm when she was a girl.(Making homemade brooms and hog killing). I'm coming down for Christmas to see her and hope to get copies of this. What a shame I didn't get to ask my mother about a lot of these things before she died.
