Fellow Jackson Count Researchers, I am trying to locate anyone with family connections with mine with the names of Mayo, Padgett, Jones, and McQuagge who were in Jackson Co. FL during the early settling of the county...1820's on. John P. Mayo was the brother of Mary Frances and the guardian of her three daughters after she and her husband Jonathan Jones, Jr. died. I have no information on the Mayos and would like to know if anyone would know of any Mayos still in the area? The Padgett line comes through Nancy Gay Haynes who married her second husband John Padgett in 1857 and had two children by him. John Padgett was married to his first wife Penny Jones and supposedly a sister of Jonathan Jones Jr and the daughter of Jonathan Jones Sr. Another Jones daughter married a McQuagge and their sons...Daniel and Duncan McQuagge married two of the above mentioned daughters of Nancy Gay Haynes Padgett...Sarah and Mary Caroline Haynes. Hopefully someone can help me with these lines as I have hit a deadend in all of them as I cannot trace any back further than their arrival to Jackson Co. I look forward to hearing from you.
