Jackson County Web is the Greatest! Need help with John and Malinda (Griffin) SPEARS who were in Jackson Co. in 1840 (election list and census). They were born in GA., John abt. 1809 and Malinda abt 1816, GA county unknown. They were married abt. 1834, no record. John paid taxes in Calhoun Co. as early as 1847 and family included in 1850 Census. Both John and Malinda and a son, Lewis, disappeared from the Census by 1860 (epidemic of '57???); remaining family in household headed by Mary Jensey who later married Charlie Scott in Jackson Co. Need help with parents of John and Malinda and families of SPEARS daughters---Elizabeth married William Henry Pope, following marriages unknown: Malinda, Eliza, Temperance. Sons, William Jesse and John William died in Civil War. Will appreciate any help.
