    3. Stan: I have at least three relatives who are probably buried someplace in Jackson County, most likely in a long-forgotten family plot on their long-forgotten family farm, which was probably somewhere on the main road from Marianna past (and near) Sneads heading east. The deceased include my 2nd-great grandfather, John Richard Jones (died March 1, 1852) and two of his children, John Mallory Jones (died July 10, 1857) and Esther Kitturah Jones (died June 27, 1862). A third child (William Marion Jones) died in Knox County, TN during the war (Feb. 12, 1863), but it is unlikely his body was sent back to Florida under the circumstances of that time, so I presume he is not in Jackson County, Florida. My family removed to Texas sometime before the 1870 census, and presumably left all of the above buried wherever it was, but no records have survived with my family. Those deaths were long enough ago that it is easy to presume rather informal burial on family farm land, and over the decades since then, no doubt all have been forgotten. It is a common story, I know. What suggestions would you offer as to tracking down any remains of my family in Jackson County? Thanks in advance, == Bill At 10:30 PM 5/6/2007, Peacockse@aol.com wrote: >There is an excellent site for Cemetery preservation, education, and what to >do and not do regarding abandoned or neglected cemeteries.
