Cindy, Thanks for the article about the Battle of Marianna. The boy courier on p. 230, Arthur Lewis, was my great-grandfather. We have our own family story in his words written by Fanny Bryan Chapman (for a Marianna newspaper, I think) in which he describes his discovery that the yankees were coming and his adventure trying to get back to Marianna to warn Col. Montgomery and subsequent activities before and during the battle. It was written down many years after the battle, but it makes a great story. His father was the other Arthur Lewis listed in the Marianna Home Guard, p.240. The latter was wounded on the day of the battle and died two days later. Cynthia
