Hi everyone-- Can someone tell me the relationship between Jackson County, FL and Laurens County, GA? Why are some of the early Jackson County names located in Laurens County courthouse records prior to 1825? Are there other early Jackson County records to be found in Laurens County? Nanismith
The names are found in both places because a lot of folks (including my Mayo and Padgett ancestors) moved from that part GA to Jackson County in 1823 and 1824. - from the dates, it appears that they many of them probably travelled together. Which would probably have been prudent at that time. It has been awhile, but I think I recall considering that county in connection with the Stewart, Gay, and Swearingen families. Have you noticed those names in doing your research?
