I have received confirmation from Mary Parker, the State Coordinator for the Florida Pioneers Descendant Program, that she will be in Tallahassee on Friday, March 15, 2002, at the State Archives to contact and assist area residents who are interested in registering their ancestors as Florida Pioneers in the State Genealogical Society's Recognition program. She will conduct a one-hour presentation explaining the program and the application process, and will have the forms and workbooks available at the Archives and at the Annual Genealogy Seminar on Saturday. There is a fee to apply for the program to recognize Florida Pioneer ancestors, and applicants are expected to join the State Society, but all will be explained at the presentation on March 15. This is an excellent opportunity for ANYONE with a Florida ancestor, as she will also be available Friday AM at the Archives to consult with researchers doing pre-Statehood Florida family history and research.
