Gil and all, I do not use the JC Library at present, but wonder what the present "set-up" for Genealogy is, by contrast to the the proposed move and changes? It looks like the planning consists of primarily trying to supplement the budget by going after the various Literacy Grants available to libraries that have Literacy Tutors and volunteers. What does the local "genealogy" collection consist of? Does the Library have census microfilm or CDs? Is there a local history and genealogy collection, and if so how many shelves would it take to house it at the new annex? Can volunteers supplement the annex staff during certain hours to help genealogy researchers who come to the annex? It's the same problem everywhere, I guess. Nobody remembers us until it's something they want, then the politicians put on the big show for the voters!
