Maybe someone can answer these questions....Betty From: [email protected] My grandfather was John Drayton Pullum (1853-1936). His father was Thomas Pullum (1822-1888). We believe that Thomas' father was Richard Pullum (1790s - prior to the 1850 census being taken). This is as far back as I can presently go. However, JDP did have two brothers who had families that I cannot account for: Thomas S. Pullum (1855-?) and Mass Pullum (1857[?]-?). I know TSP had a son named Mahonder who was born in 1896 and who died in 1899. TSP's wife was named Sarah, but I do not know her maiden name. I am still seeking TSP and Sarah's other children, if any, as well as their burial places and other pertinent data regarding them. I believe I have found Mass' descendents, and that they are the Pullums living in DeFuniak Springs, FL and the Pensacola, Florida area. Thomas Pullum and wife (Mahala Clark Pullum), JDP and wife (Eliza Jane Burns Pullum), their sons William Andrew and Charles Thomas Pullum, their daughter Nancy Verlon Pullum Hartzog and her infant daughter, Mahonder Pullum, plus other Pullums of my lineage, including, I am told, Mass Pullum in an unmarked grave, are buried in the Clark Cemetery, which is near the Brannon Stand Community on CR 59, near its' junction with US 84, west of Dothan. If Henry Lee connects in any form, shape, or fashion with my line of Pullums, please advise me and let's exchange info on our two lines! Thanks! Rev. Larry F. Pullum 3638 CR 203 Rehobeth, AL. 36301-7726 Did you notice that HLP had a daughter who had "Verlon" as part of her name? Well, John Drayton Pullum and his wife, Eliza Jane Burns Pullum had ten kids: six boys and four girls, and the third girl (the eighth child) was named Nancy Verlon, but called Verlon. She married Lee Sylvester hartzog, and died in childbirth with their first child. She and the baby are buried in the Clark Cemetery in Houston County, AL. Verlon's oldest sister Pearl Pullum (the fifth child of JDP and EJBP) and her husband, Joe Cephus Ward named a daughter after Verlon. Today Verlon Ward Morris in about 84 or 85 years old, but still clear in mind, and a great source for Pullum family info. I have never heard the name Verlon used outside of the Pullum family, by the way! Now, my point is that common names often indicate family connections even more than does being in the same geographic area, such as Taylor, AL. HLP and JDP have both. I stand by my theory that they are connected, and will until proven wrong! My guess remains that HLP is a son of Thomas S. Pullum (my first choice!) or of Mass Pullum (whose relatives I feel I have found in the panhandle of Florida). Thanks again for you help. Larry F. Pullum
