Randall: Do you need the cause of death on the certificate? Cause of death becomes public information 50 years following the death. Prior to that time, cause of death is considered confidential by Florida law. It will not be included on the death certificate for deaths in 1979. If you had more time, you can download an order form for the certificate on line. They do have a rush service. Go to www.doh.state.fl.us/planning_eval/vital_statistics/deaths.htm for more information. If anyone just happens to be going to Tallahassee in the next week, I would like for you to get a copy of my mother's death certificate. She died in 1979 of a strok brought on by leukemia and now it appears that I've been diagnosed with a disease similiar. Her name is as follows: Eva D. Thaxton B. 27 Jan 1923 D. 24 May 1979 Leon County was where she died.
Karen Thanks for the info. Several folks out there sent me the needed website. Since she is my mother, I can get the cause of death on the certificate. My request is in the snail mail right now. I hope to get it back early next week. Thank you again for your assistance.
