Winnette, When I was growing up you could still see a few places around matching that description. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), much of Jackson County is planted in pines and many of the old houses and buildings were destroyed as land was leveled and replanted in pines. In Parramore, for example, I can still remember very well two of the stores and several houses still standing, along with chimneys and fences and other signs of houses. My favorite thing there, in fact, were the rotting remains of a huge dance floor on the old Lawson place where square dances were once held. Best, Dale
