Jim, There is a brief history online at this site: http://www.tarleton.edu/~kjones/csarmy.html Basically, you will find that the 15th Confederate Cavalry was formed for the most part from independent companies from Alabama and Florida and attached to the Confederate army defending Mobile. Colonel Henry Maury was the commanding officer for much of the regiment's career. One company from Jackson County, the "Marianna Dragoons," was part of the 15th. There is a book out on the 15th. It basically consists of a brief history of the regiment, along with summaries of the records of the men who served. You can learn more about it here: http://www.heritagebooks.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HBI&Product_Code=G3813 It is fairly expensive ($40 plus shipping), so if you need information about just a soldier or two, let me know and I'll be glad to look them up for you.
