Thanks Frank for beginning the praise for this site. I have searched sites for most counties in North and Northwest FL and many in AL, GA and the Carolinas and a few others. Jackson County's web site is definitely Number ONE. Thanks to each volunteer. Whit Gainey Frank Sloan wrote: > Everyone should give all the folks working on the Jackson County website a big hand. The Jackson County Web site is a really great one. And Washington Co. is coming along at a good pace too. These people know what is needed to trace family histories. GREAT JOB to the coordinators. Peggy Riley
Amen about the great website.... it is certainly something to be thankful for!!!! :)
Everyone should give all the folks working on the Jackson County website a big hand. It is undoubtedly the best site by far of any I have found for any other county. Thanks for all the hard work and please don't stop! The 1885 State census was especially helpful to me since it confirmed many speculations. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving :) Frank

Having just finished drawing the tract map of the border region of Jackson Co., I remembered putting in a tract for an Abercrombie. I checked and there was a William A. Abercrombie who purchased land in 1860 less than a mile from where Ephesus Cemetery is located today. You can check it out at West Florida Land Site http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/3010/index.htm Duke Vickrey
I am working on the Eli Morris - Margaret (Hardy) Morris line. Some of the children lived in Jackson County, some in Calhoun County, and some in Washington County. I am told there was eleven children, but I have some names in question because I have too many! There was an Ethel, Elijah, Jack H, Anglish, Emma, Simon P, Thomas, Alexander, Giles,Daniel (?) and Ephim or Elisha (?). Any connection to this family that could help fill some information in would be wonderful! Thanks! Ginny in Florida VBasford@aol.com
I blew this.....sorry about that. Betty Howard and Carlos, we are looking for: Abercrombie or Olds buried at the Ephesus Cemetary in Jackson County. Do either of you have any inforamtion for us. Betty Subj: EPHESUS CEMETERY Date: 98-03-01 14:41:16 EST From: pdennard@gate.net (Howard Dennard) To: bettymaes@aol.com Hi Betty, May I say you and the others are doing an outstanding job on the Jackson County WEB page. A little information for your cemetery research. The Ephesus cemetery has a Line of unnamed sites, these are all DENARD's. Working from the site furtherest from the church they are Alma Denard 1-3-1899 to 12-22-1934; Robert L Denard jr. 12-17-1891 to 10-18-1953. The two closest to the church are (right to left) Robert L. Denard sr. 8-10-1863 to unknown ; Lizzie Denard 12-??-1870 to 2-2-1909 ; the ones between these are children ,I don't have the names at this time. the small grave is unnamed boy born/died 12-22-1934. When I can seperate the others I'll let you know. Just for Information the Denard's were in Jackson County at least as early as 1845. then around the late 1860 or early 1870's left for Texas. Robert sr. returned to Washington County in the mid 1890's and to Jackson County by 1910 Keep up the good work, Howard Dennard
Hi Margaret, Coon Bottom is a small community located about 5-6 miles east of Havana, FL on state highway 12. There's a cross road, a small store, a laundrymat and a church, I think. Plus some houses. They do have a fire station that sponsers a Pilau dinner every year. I think that's rice and chicken. Good! Gayle

Can anyone tell me if there are any Abercrombie or Olds buried at the Ephesus Cemetary in Jackson County. If I remember right Carlos Owens has some information on the Abercrombie family and they are in unmarked graves there. Betty
In North Jackson County there is a cemetary on the county map called Ephesus. My g-g-g-grandmother lived near that area in 1870 and then moved to Barbour County Alabama. She is buried in a small Cemetary there called Ephesus. Strange coincidence. Her name is Sarah Abercrombie. Can anyone tell me if there are any Abercrombie or Olds buried at the Ephesus Cemetary in Jackson County. Jr. Williams nakose@mindspring.com
