    3. You can go into the message board archive and look at all records but it's been a long time since I did it. I think you have to find your way through it on the Rootsweb.com site, but it can be done. Maybe the sponsor of this list can tell you better than I. Terry Littleton (sponsor of [email protected])

    3. HI, SORRY - I guess we could be talking about several different centuries now huh? There supposedly were LITTLETON's in Jackson Co in the early part of the 1800's. Mainly around 1820. The names in particular are Reuben, Thomas and William. I know a few things about the two brothers, Thomas and William but nothing about Reuben and how he was related to them. THAT is what I need to know, was Reuben their father?? Any Littleton help is greatly appreciated. Terry Littleton (sponsor of [email protected])

    3. Anyone with information on the MERCER or KING family of Jackson county, please email me privately. I'm trying to break through a brick wall on: the parents of Samantha Ella Mercer, born 24 Feb 1868 in Jackson Co., FL. According to Samantha's death certificate, her father was Thomas E. Mercer of GA and her mother was Rebecca King (b. abt 1830) of FL or GA. Any information on these families would be appreciated. Brenda [email protected]

    2. It would be easier to answer if we had some idea what time frame you're talking about. Is this 1800's or 1900's? The state archives and library has some old newspapers on microfilm and so does Strozier Library at FSU (like Pensacola's Special Collections at University of West Florida). If you want to send me a separate list of dates, I'll see what I can find here in Tallahassee.

    1. [FLJACKSO] LITTLETON's in Jackson CO, FL
    2. Littleton, Terry
    3. Hello all, I am trying to find any info on two LITTLETON brothers that lived and bought land in Jackson Co, FL in the 1820's-1840's. They moved to Louisiana about 1849 and are on the 1850 LA census. Thomas D Littleton b 1805 NC William Littleton b 1807 NC I know a Thomas Littleton signed a petition to the government in 1824 in Jackson Co, FL seeking to keep land speculators out of FL but this Thomas would have only been 19 years old. Is that possible or could his father have been a Thomas Littleton also living there. I'm trying to figure out who their father might be. Does anyone have access to any records that might help me. Maybe the 1820, 30, 40 LA census showing the LITTLETON heads of households? Thomas and William were both married and having children in Jackson Co in the 1830's and 40's so there should be at least an entry for each of them. I'd LOVE to know if there were any other LITTLETONs listed on those census. Many thanks, Terry Littleton (sponsor of [email protected])

    2. Avery, Marianna has had at least one paper for many years. Prior to the Floridan, there was the Times Courier. In the 19th Century there were a number of papers, including the West Florida News, the Patriot, Barlow's Whig and others. Some of these are very rare today. For example, I have the only known copy of the West Florida News. That said, many copies of early Jackson County papers can still be found. The Special Collections Section of the John C. Pace Library at the University of West Florida preserves many old Northwest Florida newspapers, as does the Florida Historical Society Library in Gainesville. Best, Dale Cox

    2. My sister and I are trying to find obituaries and other public type announcements that may be in the Marianna or Jackson County news papers. I contacted the Jackson County Floridan and the lady I talked to said that their microfiche only went back to about 1928. She didn't know if there was a paper in Marianna prior to that (Im sure there was). Are these records located anywhere on the web or archived anywhere that anyone knows about? Anyway, is there anyone down there that would do some research (we are willing to pay reasonable hourly wages) for us? Avery Freeman Aurora, Colorado.

    3. A few months ago someone met with Betty McCray, Henry Parker and myself, Winnette Stinson, at Piney Grove Cemetery to locate the grave of Salatheil Parker. I have forgotten her name, but, would like to get in touch with her again. Maybe she would contact Betty or I. Also, I need someone who would check for a date of death for Julia A Parker. She died after 1904 when Salathiel died. Is it possible to find an obit or a funeral home record. Anything that will help us. The gravestone is ready except for that. 2. Subj: Moss Hill Cemetary list Date: 01/27/2002 4:34:21 PM Eastern Standard Time From: [email protected] (Frederick Kenyon) Hi, I have just looked over the Moss Hill Cemetary List and found many ancestors. Ethel J Carter was my father's older sister who died in childhood from a fever as my dad recalled. My father is Woodrow W. Carter who is the last of the eight children of Benjamin F. Carter and Ellen Blue Carter who moved to Rapides Parish, Louisiana in the 1920's. My dad is 89 and in poor health. Adaline Augusta Miller Blue is Ellen Blue Carter's mother, or Granmaw Miller as my father refers to her. I have a book published in the 50' s or 60's with lots of information about Moss Hill Church and some of the early families. Ellen's sister Lauretta is also in the cemetary. regards, Mary Ellen Carter Kenyon

    1. Re: [FLJACKSO] Dr. Roy Wandeck
    2. I checked my Social Security Death Index CD which is easier than the online searches since you can browse if you are unsure of the spelling of the last name, I found a William Wandeck born Nov. 29, 1904 and died May 1976, last known residence was Marianna, FL. Could this be him? I did not see a Roy with a similar last name. Stephanie
