You have Anna being 44 years older than her husband Hessie. I believe that Anna (born 1841) was the wife of Coram Varnum and if this is true what happened to Coram and the rest of the children. I think that my GGrandmother is the daughter of Corman and Indianna Varnum. Do you have any more information? Ann Santi You have Anna being 44 years older than her husband Hessie. Second message today about Big Creek...Someone please help here. Betty Subj: big creek cemetery Date: 04/29/2002 9:44:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: [email protected] Hello: I have a relative buried in the BIG CREEK United Methodist Church Cemetery in Houston County, AL and I noticed your address on a website for the cemetery. I was wondering if you might be able to give me information on who to contact about the cemetery. Do you know of a contact for that cemetery? Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Jarrett Robinson Jacksonville, FL
Maybe someone on the list can tell him exactly how to get there. Betty Subj: Big Creek Date: 04/29/2002 2:51:46 AM Eastern Daylight Time From: [email protected] (Bill Walling) Betty: Bill Walling here doing a little Genealogy work. Could you please tell me where Big Creek, Alabama is located. My dad, James Walling was born in Big Creek, and I have it down as near Midland City, but I also found a Big Creek that was south of Dothan. Thanks, Bill Walling
I have added all of Liberty Co., FL and Decatur Co., GA to the master index.. http://www.rootsweb.com/~fljackso/mindexes/mindexes.htm There are 84,580 graves indexed.. I have worked the master index since Monday and I don't want to see a cemetery survey for a while!!! James James L. Edenfield Website: http://edenfield.org Email: [email protected]
I forwarded your other questions to our discussion list because most of my research materials are still packed away from my recent move to Bay County. >From my own research I know at least one courthouse was built about 1848 in Marianna and it was to be made of brick. Another courthouse was built in 1906 and the last one was built circa 1967, which is currently standing and in use. At least that is from my memory of my own research of Jackson County. Let me know if that answers your questions. Is there now a new modern facility? Is it a courthouse or just an annex to the old one? Again, thank you for your assistance. Paul T. Hellmann, St. Louis
Dear all.... Since moving to Bay County I've not had the chance to relocated and organize all of historical books and genealogy. <you'd think those would be FIRST....but, I gotta unpack the clothes and other "necessities"...lol> Anyway, I received this email and thought some of you might be able to answer these questions. Thanking you all in advance. Your assistance on these items will be deeply appreciated. Paul T. Hellmann, St. Louis
The master cemetery index has been updated. There are over 81,000 graves in the index.. http://www.rootsweb.com/~fljackso/mindexes/mindexes.htm I finished indexing Jackson Co., FL cemeteries ... There are 191 cemeteries indexed just for JC. If you find bad links let me know!! or if you find duplicates graves let me know.. Betty Smith surveyed the Keown Family Cemetery in Washington Co., FL http://www.rootsweb.com/~flwashin/cemeteries/keown.htm The Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery in Houston Co., AL has been updated.. http://www.rootsweb.com/~fljackso/houston/ebenezer.htm Emmer Pitts was listed as being buried in Porter Cemetery in Grand Ridge, FL (next to the Methodist Church) but that was an error.. I know for a fact that she is buried in the Cypress Community Cemetery, Cypress, Jackson Co., FL.. The source was the Sink Creek Survey but I am sure it was keyed wrong.. No wonder Wayne couldn't find her tombstone... Wayne is working on the Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, FL and already has two notebooks full and is only abt. half-done... James James L. This is the latest e-mail I have got from Karen Stewart on the Mt. Zion church. You can contact her directly by Clicking on her e-mail address below.. James James L. Edenfield Website: http://edenfield.org Email: [email protected] ----- Original Message ----- From: karenbstewart To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, March 15, 2056 6:08 PM Subject: Homecoming for Mount Zion Babtist Church Dear Mr. Edenfield, This is a reminder that we will have the church for Homecoming May 5th, 2002. Any old members are encouraged to come. The Revond Dimond Stewart will not be allowed on the property while this event takes pace in a order by the judge. We do not want anyone to feel they can not attend homecomming in fear of dealing with him. Since we last spoke the church has been growing we average 40 members and most are all old members that have returned. However we are still fighting this battle. But together as a whole we are holding strong to get the church back. I really hope you can attend. Any old pictures or old history of the church would be a great help. We have contacted some of the members from Old Glory and invited them as well. I hope to see you there. Take Care and God bless Karen Brown Stewart
Hello John and all... I am still with you. I have been spending extensive time in Birmingham lately due to a serious family illness and also have been in the midst of moving. I haven't had much time to connect via internet, but will get back into the swing of things soon. Dale
When subscribing to a list, what is the difference between Digest Mode and the other option? Thanks
Hi Ya'll Trying to find information about William McCoy who married a Nance Curtin. Only child I am aware of is James Coleman "Bud" McCoy who married Cordealia Mae Dees(e) in Jaclson Co. Fl. Any help is appreciated. Dianne
Hi All, I sure had fun yesterday at the National Archives branch in Atlanta - don't know if you've had a chance to see the 1930 census yet for Jackson County but it looks great!! Nice and clear!! I photocopies ED's as follows: ED 16 - Pct 11, Neals Landing ED 17 - Malone Town ED 18 - Pct 12, Friendship excluding Malone ED 29 - Pct 18, Bascom ED 36 - Pct 23, Paramore Sorry - didn't have time or money to do them all. If you have people in these areas I will happy to check my copy for you as I have time - got daughter's wedding in a May so if I get bombarded with request some will have to be patient or go to National themselves - I understand that LDS won't have them catalogued and available for circulation until about September. For those interested in learning more about using the 1930 try the following website - it was a big help in preparing for my trip to Atlanta. http://1930censusarchives.gov Rhonda Watson
We will be getting the entire 1930 for Florida and Alabama (census not soundex) probably later this summer. We ordered from Heritage Quest. Does anyone from the list have access to the newspaper that could volunteer to enter the obits into the Obituary Daily Times online database? One of the ladies here in Talley took copies cut out from the Democrat back to 1986 and entered them and is continuing to do it daily. She had almost 45,000 names entered by March 1st !! Then she kept the hard copies and will send people copies if they want one ! What a wonderful volunteer effort, and I'm sure it would help if we could do the same for JC ! Where're those nimble fingered volunteers and where can we get back issues? Ms. Sheila Lilia Martin with a little help from ((( >^..^< ))) <=Mr. Puddy
