Liz, Thank you for responding. I read that response also, and I agree. I run into DUKE/DUKES all the time, and I know there is a common spelling there somewhere. I too have heard several reasons why there is a difference. Just can't nail any of them down as absolute truth. I suspect there is a little truth in each story.
