    1. [FLHOLMES] Yates and Levins
    2. Max, Thanks for your response. The Levins have been hard for me to get my arms around. It seems like there were too many with the same first name and too many who dodged the census taker some years. My Levins ancestor was Amy Levins, who married Joshua Spence in Thomas County, GA in 1835. They made 1840 Dale Co. census living near some Levins and the 1850 Washington Co. census, again living near some Levins. Joshua Spence's father was Isaac Spence, who lived in Emanuel Co., GA in the 1820 census and Thomas Co., GA in the 1830 census. Close to him in the 1820 Emanuel Co. census were Burrel Yates and Eli Yates. In the 1860 Coffee Co. census, there was an Insel Spence with an Elizabeth Yates (17 AL) living with his family. Finally, if you look at Yates Mill Creek flowing into the Choctawhatchee River in Washington Co. at Hinson's Crossroads, there is a wide area in the creek with the name Leavins Lake. Barbara, thanks for the lead on Michael Barnes. Duke Vickrey
