I thought you all might enjoy having this. They are notes from my records which include Rhoda's obituary. She and her folks were all born in Alabama. She reported her age as 43 at the time of the 1900 census. Her occupation was a housekeeper, bore 12 children with 10 living and married for 23 years in 1900. She could read and write according to census records. Obituary: "Mrs. Rhoda Faircloth, 80, mother of tax collector W.R. Faircloth, of this city, died at the home of her son near Miller's Cross Road, about 7:00 last Monday morning. The funeral services were held at Union Hill church, the long time church home of the deceased, Tuesday morning at 11:00, and burial was in the cemetery nearby. The services were conducted by a former pastor, Rev. A.D. Halstead, assisted by the present pastor, Rev. M. Simmons, and Rev. J.C. Manuel. Bonifay Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The deceased had been ill for about a year, following a light stroke. She is survived by four sons: W.R., R.A., Lee, and D.E. all of Holmes county. There also survive six daughters: Mrs. Wesley Birge, of Chipley; and Mrs. Andrew Miller, Mrs. Wesley Miller, Mrs. Dora Williams, Mrs. Jim Paul and Mrs. Jennie Murphy, all of Holmes county. One sister survives, Mrs. Jesse Lewis, affectionately known as "Aunt Caroline" to a host of descendents of the deceased. Mrs. Faircloth was born in Alabama, as Miss Rhoda Woodall. At the time of her marriage to Elbert Faircloth she moved with her husband to Florida where she has resided ever since. She was a great church and community worker and filled a large place in the lives of many for many years. With a large family and with the toil of rearing them under pioneer conditions, she had energy and thought to include manifold services to church and neighbors."
