Faircloth Obit The copy of the obit was not clear and therefore I was not able to complete a complete reproduction of the obit, but the information that it does provide is interesting. Obituary: undated newspaper in 1940 "John D. Faircloth, 79, died at the home of his niece, Mrs. Wesley Miller, in the Bethlehem community, on Thursday morning, following a long illness. Burial was at Union Hill cemetery Friday morning. Rev. ???stead conducted the funeral services and Holman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The pallbearers were selected from the many nephews and grandsons of the deceased. The survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Maggie Smith, of Slocomb, Alabama, and one son, Elijah Faircloth, of Holmes County. There also survive sisters: Mrs. D. J. Paul, Bonifay; and Mrs. Lizzie French, now resident northwest of Bonifay. There survive many more distant relatives belonging to this pioneer family. John D. Faircloth was born in Holmes County in 1861, the son of Abraham Faircloth, who came to Holmes County in 1846. Like many of Holmes County's pioneers, the Faircloths originally came from North Carolina and sojourned a while in...." Not too long ago, in an old trunk that belonged to Dora Faircloth, I found an original copy of the obituary for Andrew Elton Williams (grandson of the Williams patriarch of the same name). Do you have the date for when Rhoda's obit. appeared? Next time I'm in Holmes County, I'm going to bring a digital camera and sit on that old old OLD microfilm machine and track down some of these obits. There's no copier or anything attached to the machine so that's about the only way to get a copy of these old newspaper articles. > -----Original Message----- > From: Michael S.
