Hi I've never heard of a Nancy Faircloth. However, I am descended from Abraham Faircloth who came to Holmes County around 1848 from Georgia. He married Rebecca Peters. I think your Nancy is likely somehow related to him. She is among the list of children I have for him. I think, also, you might be wrong about her age. If she was born as early as 1820, it's highly unlikely she had a daughter in 1872- when she was 52. Abraham came to Holmes County and 2 of his brothers followed, Isaac and Jacob. Perhaps she was the daughter of one of these 2 men. You may want to look in Laurens County census records to see if you can find a Nancy who was about her age on the 1850 census. Laurens County is where Abraham is from. OR...a very distinct possibility is that Nancy was a nickname. Finally, it's possible that the person giving the information on the death certificate was simply incorrect. A death certificate is only as reliable as the person who originally gave the information. Is the informant listed on the certificate? If so, do you recognize the name as a close relative of Rachel Taylor? Florida death certificate for Rachel Taylor, born around 1872 died in 1929 and buried in Red Hill Cemetery. It lists her father as Jim (James) Taylor -- my great-great-great grandfather and mother as a Nancy Faircloth. The name Nancy Faircloth is new to me. > Has anyone heard of a Nancy Faircloth possibly born in Georgia, I suspect around 1820-1835?? > > In all census records for Holmes County Jim Taylor's wife is listed as Evelina or Eveline. Thanks for you help. I will look into Laurens County. It is possible the information on the death certificate is incorrect or only partially correct. When I looked at it closer I realized the date of birth for Rachel was wrong. They wrote 1872 but she was born around 1852. No informant signed this death certificate. At this point I have several conflicting names for Jim (James) Taylor's wife-- Eveline (last name?), Sarah Knight, Elizabeth (last name), and now Nancy Faircloth. I think Jim (James) Taylor spent some time in Thomas county Georgia before coming into Florida because his first few children were born there. I'll keep looking. If anyone can offer any help it is always much appreciated.
