    1. Re: [FLHOLMES] Yon/Yohn spellings
    2. Liz, Thank you for responding. I read that response also, and I agree. I run into DUKE/DUKES all the time, and I know there is a common spelling there somewhere. I too have heard several reasons why there is a difference. Just can't nail any of them down as absolute truth. I suspect there is a little truth in each story. I will get my YOHN Family Data together some time and we can compare. Looking forward to it, Jerry Dukes.

    1. [FLHOLMES] DOWN MEMORY LANE
    2. Hi, A number of you have written me that you like the idea of a new topic for the Holmes Web site but you didn't send me your "MEMORY" (or stories that your family has passed down) Since I didn't "SAVE" the stories that you were sharing, you will need to re-submit them to "ME" (not the list) I can then pass them on to Cathy for posting to the web site. Just write down what ever comes to mind and send them on. Be sure to put "DOWN MEMORY LANE" in the subject line so I can recognize and sort right off what your mail is about. Several of you recalled stories that you personally lived, such as: iceboxes, camp meeting, games you played as a child, (or your parents or grandparents) cotton picking, cooking methods, All submissions will include your name and email address "unless" you specify otherwise. Also, you might include the names that you are researching. That way if anyone visiting the site looks over these names they will know who are searching the names that they too are interested in. We just might meet some new cousins . Thanks, and don't forget to send the stories on to me.
