In Adobe PhotoShop it is inder File>Auntomate>Batch. Ulead's Photo Impact, File> Batch Convert. For online viewing 96 dpi is all that is necessary. Size makes a big diffference for those not on high speed as to whether they take the time needed to wait for large downloads on web pages to open. Also, if you are only given a certain amount of bandwidth the larger the file the more it uses when someone views it. Maybe you could contact the historical associations in the area you think the pictures were taken. Ask them to show these pictures at their next meetings. Never know who might recognize someone from their own pictures. Hope this helps.
