    1. [FLHILLSB] Plant City Pioneer Heritage Day - Saturday, October 21, 2006
    2. The 29th Annual Pioneer Heritage Day in Plant City will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2006. This event, sponsored by the East Hillsborough Historical Society, will be located at the 1914 Plant City High School Community Center, 605 North Collins Street, in the heart of Plant City's historic district. The time for the event is from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There is no admission charge and free parking is available. This year our focus will be on heritage crafts. Many fun activities and events are planned for the day, including live entertainment, arts and crafts, heritage crafts, children's corner, roving host and hostesses in period costumes, tours of 1914 Plant City High School, pioneer tradespeople, pioneer demonstrations, good foods, bake sale, treasures sale, antiques and more. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. Inside the historic high school you can visit the classrooms and take a trip back through time browsing through the museum, camera and photography display, medical equipment room, antique furniture, clothing and our agriculture room called "Down On The Farm". Each room is filled with history. The Quintilla Geer Bruton Archives Center, located on the first floor, is where one can browse through history or look up your ancestry. Located on the third floor you will find John Briggs art studio, Gladys Jeffcoat's camera and photography display and the H. B. Plant Railroad Historical Society. This is where you can see model trains travel through early Plant City, complete with replicas of buildings and homes that once existed here. Whatever your interest you will find something to your liking. The funds raised from this event go toward the continuing restoration and upkeep of the building. There are still some spaces available for crafters, demonstrators and food vendors.
