Mr. Madsen had lived in Tampa for more than 50 years and was a retired advertising executive. His many professional honors included serving as president of sales and marketing executives of Tampa, receiving that organization's President's Award for Outstanding Achievement, being named "Ad Man of the Year" by the Tampa Advertising Club, and receiving the American Advertising Federation's Silver Medal Award. He was a Kiwanian, and he served as president of the Kiwanis Club of Midtown Tampa and as lieutenant governor of the Florida District of Kiwanis. Mr. Madsen was a graduate of the University of Minnesota where he was a member of Sigma Delta Chi professional journalism fraternity. Mr. Madsen is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Carmen; by four children, Karen Madsen of Miami, Michael Madsen and wife Cheri of Tallahassee, Tina Gowans and husband Tom of Tampa, and Barbara Schafer and husband Mark of Thousand Oak! s, Calif.; by three grandchildren, Jeff Madsen, Greg Madsen and Heather Lockhart; and by five great-grandchildren, Jake, Kharmin, Layla, Avery and Ross.
