    1. [FLHILLSB] QUESTION
    2. Hello again group- another question- If a couple were to be married and they live in Hillsborough Co. about 1950ish and earlier and the male were to have been in the Coast Guard or other form of service, where might their marriage have been recorded ? I have search in Hillsborough for the marriage records for Anna Mae Heathcoe who married a William H.Bass in about 1934 give or take a year- think this William was in the Coast Guard at the time he wed Anna Mae- then I have > Betty Louise Heathcoe who married ( name is either ) Herman Lamar Ussery or just Lamar Ussery - and I think he also may have been in some kind of service at the time- about 1950 -for this marriage- I have not been able to find record of either marriage- only a divorec record, dated Nov.5,1937, for Anna Mae Bass from William H.Bass,he had custody of their son John W.Bass - Anna died in 1939 - and Betty died in child birth and only her obit states the name of the husband- Any clues on how to find a marriage record for either of these 2 couples ? Thanks Peggy

    3. Would not the divorce record state where and when the marriage occurred? 1. Re: [FLHILLSB] QUESTION
    2. Nope- It consisted of almost 2 pages with only 3 stipulations - # 1 was that the marriage between the cross plaintiff and the defendant be dissolved-and freedom of all obligations # 2- care and custody and control of the minor child,John W.Bass,be the same and awarded to William H.Bass- # 3- that the attorney fees for both parties were paid by William H.Bass- of 50.00 - as well as any other court fees- 5,Nov,1937, I wondered if they knew Anna was sick and the divorce would solve financial problems- -Just wish I knew what happened to the boy- Peggy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue Bodishbaugh" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, June 09, 2007 2:06 AM Subject: [FLHILLSB] QUESTION > Would not the divorce record state where and when the marriage occurred? > Sue > > [email protected] wrote: > Hello again group- another question- > If a couple were to be married and they live in Hillsborough Co. about > 1950ish and earlier and the male were to have been in the Coast Guard or > other form of service, where might their marriage have been recorded ? > I have search in Hillsborough for the marriage records for Anna Mae > Heathcoe who married a William H.Bass in about 1934 give or take a year- > think this William was in the Coast Guard at the time he wed Anna Mae- > then I have > > Betty Louise Heathcoe who married ( name is either ) Herman Lamar Ussery > or just Lamar Ussery - and I think he also may have been in some kind of > service at the time- about 1950 -for this marriage- > I have not been able to find record of either marriage- only a divorec > record, dated Nov.5,1937, for Anna Mae Bass from William H.Bass,he had > custody of their son John W.Bass - Anna died in 1939 - > and Betty died in child birth and only her obit states the name of the > husband- > Any clues on how to find a marriage record for either of these 2 couples ? > Thanks > Peggy > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message > > > > --------------------------------- > Park yourself in front of a world of choices in alternative vehicles. > Visit the Yahoo! 3. Peggy, there is no rhyme or reason where people get married. My parents were living in Brooksville, but married two counties over because one of my Aunts was friends with the Methodist Minister and he would marry them in the Parsonage for free. It was the depression and every penny counted. Was the girl underage? Was her family opposed to the marriage? If she was underage and family opposed, I'd look at least 2 counties away to where her family was not known, so she could say she had no family to object or she could lie about her age. Look for a marriage announcement in the local newspaper, It might make mention of the marriage, or where they went for their wedding night, that might be where they got married.
