I believe Samuel was away due to living in Wisconsin. There's another 1880 US Census that shows the whole family living in Wisconsin. After that... there's no trail to know what happened to Julia, Gracie or Fannie. ******************** In the 1880 U.S. census, Julia Freed (age 32) and daughters Gracie (age 6) and Fanny (age 2) appear in the household of Flora Stevens (age 22) in Marshall, Calhoun County, Michigan. Julia's status is listed as "husband away". She appears to be a servant in the household (although it's possible that she's a servant in a household further up the page), with her two daughters as borders.
