Hi, Has anyone requested information about an ancestor from the Tampa Police Department and/or the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department? My husband's grandfather (John Elwood Matson, Sr) was apparently employed first by the Tampa Police and later by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department. His obit states he was one of the first motorcycle officers with the Tampa Police Department (around 1925). He died in 1975. I am searching for the name of his first wife and the approximate date that he moved to Tampa, Florida. The city directories for Tampa don't list him until 1927 and no spouse is listed. I haven't been able to locate him on the 1910 or 1920 census yet. He is present with his family in the 1900 census in Philadelphia. Any ideas on how to proceed with this would be appreciated.
