Roll call. Searching for information about my wife's great grandmother, Martha AYERS, born 1830, probably in Florida, died 1855-1858 probably in Hillsborough County, Florida. One family tradition states that she was the wife of a Native American, perhaps Cherokee. Another family tradition states that she was a Native American (Seminole?) and was born in a village at the north end of Lake Hancock, Polk County, Florida. She may well have been Creek. She had two children, Martha, born 1848, and Maxfield, born 1850. In the 1850 census for Hillsborough County, Florida, she was living in the Ichepuckasassa Settlement with her new husband, Christopher ZEBENDON and the two children.
