    3. Wendy, I was born and raised in Brandon and knew the "Brandons" of my day. I am sure you have located the following cemetery where most of the Brandons are buried. ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/fl/hillsborough/cemetery/bran-fam.txt A marker at the entrance reads; "BRANDON FAMILY CEMETERY. The earliest marked grave dated 1857 was that of Susan Carson, mother of Martha Carson Brandon Traveling by wagon train, John Brandon, his wife Martha (cousin of Kit Carson) and six sons left Mississippi and arived at Fort Brooke (Tampa) in 1857. John aquired land in what now is Brandon. They worked the land until tragedy struck when Johns beloved wife died in 1867. John moved away and in 1868 married Victoria Varn a widow with two children. In 1874 they moved back to New Hope (Brandon) and established their homested. John helped start the first school, donated land for a church and the New Hope Cemetery. John Brandon died in 1886 and was buried in this cemetery. The Brandon name is carried on proudly by the desendances of John, many of whom reside locally." There is another cemetery located on former Brandon land which is New Hope Cemetery in Brandon. Some of the Brandons are buried there also. New Hope Cemetery is on the site of the first school in Brandon. ftp://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/fl/hillsborough/cemetery/newhope.txt I note there are some Reynolds buried in these cemeteries also. Good luck on your research. I live in Texas...have for the last 47 years, but generally get back to Brandon once a year for my family reunion.
