Hi Barbara, There is a book called the 'Soldiers of Florida in the Seminole Indian, Civil and Spanish American Wars' compiled by Fred L Robertson that has all of the information. I ordered a microfilm at my local Mormon family history Library. Many Florida Libraries have a copy of the book. Some Florida National Guard units have this book available as well. I am searching for a g-grandfather named John Tate Sutherland that supposedly died in Hillsborough County in 1899 but there is no death certificate or burial info for him. Searching for information on my GG Grandfather JT found the following article in Newspaper: "Capt. W. L. Jewell, of Company F., Second Regiment, in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida, was honored today, September 17, 1903." Suspect he took part in the Spanish American War. Does anyone know how to find military records from this time period? Can anyone help me figure out more about his military service? Previously he was in the 4th Calvary in the 1880's, in AZ. Where he was wounded, and honorably discharged. I need to find out more about his military service in Florida between 1890 - bef. 1910. Thanks for any help that can be offered.
