It gives us something to follow....all records we have show Ken as being born November of 1942, but he could have still been 2 yrs old on the census, depending on what month the census was taken. I will definitely look into these possibilities. We have wondered whether perhaps their father may have been killed in WWII, but it seems that the boys would have known that (or been told that later). My biggest fear is that perhaps the boys' *mother* was a Fouts, so that Ken may have had a different last name on the 1945 census (but I am hoping that won't be the case, of course!!LOL). Again, thank you so much!! I am off to investigate :) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I viewed enlistment records at NARA and located Kenneth J. Foutz. He was born in 1917 in North Carolina. At the time of enlistment, he was living in Iredell Co. NC and was married. There were FOUTZ and FOUTS individuals that enlisted in Florida but I didn't find them listed among the WWII dead. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: Zephirine Surnames: Fouts Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.florida.counties.hillsborough/3279/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Does anyone have a transcribed copy of that census that would not mind looking up some information? We live in GA and do not have access to the images at our library. We are trying to find out whether my husband's father, Kenneth Fouts(now passed away), is found anywhere on the 1945 FL state census in Hillsborough county. (It must be the '45 state census - he was born in 1942 and placed for adoption from the Tampa Children's Home before 1950 so he wouldn't be with his parents in the federal censuses.) His adopted name was Kenneth Fouts, but we have reason to believe his birth parents were also Foutses. He was born in Nov. 1942. If anyone can check this for me I would greatly appreciate it! (My Great Grandmother, divorced sometime in the early 1900's and married a gentleman with the last name of Jones). I found information at the Archives about the Nelson's in the Plant City History book there. (They name Jonas as J.G. Nelson). There's also a book there called St. Peters Episcopal Church that name the Nelson family. My Great Grandfather, was a painter, and I believe he had a painting business in Plant City. My Mom said that my Grandfather, Clarence Pope Nelson was the first white boy born there. (I'm not sure was that's suppose to mean).
