Wright jr. Putnam Co. FL, 1936 Your guess is as good as mine if "Fonts" should be "Fouts" (as in the divorce index). One of them is obviously an error. The divorce year is 1938. And why Putnam Co. for the marriage and not Duval where Jacksonville is located? Found the following in the Jacksonsville City Directory for 1938: Wright, John W. Jr. (Ellen F) mgr Earl Bryson Wrecking Co. r 2039 Boulevard I'll be happy to continue looking for Ellen (she might be found as Ellen Wright in the Fl. marriage index or in later Jacksonville city directories) but I'd like to take this thread off the board. I only wish that your husband's father was still with us and maybe he could tell us where Fred's boys came from! Thank you SO much for the passport attachment - it showed up fine and I was able to save it to my computer! It's really hard to tell if there's a family resemblance with my husband, maybe around the eyes. I wish I had a photo of Fred Fouts and Louis Denham Fouts to compare as well - Chris's mom had a few of Ken but that is all. Edwin's eyes look brown to me in the photo, and descriptions of Louis Denham Fouts mention his brown eyes (IF it is the same Louis Denham), but I seem to remember Ken having blue eyes. My husband's deceased father and Fred Fouts knew each other very well. I knew that my father-in-law's boss was a Fred, but it wasn't until I located his obit today that I realized that Fred Fout was president of Nu-Air Windows. My father-in-law worked for Fred and Jack Horner for many many years before my father-in-law's death in the early 1990's. FOUTS, FREDERIC, 76, of Tampa, died Thursday (Oct. 20, 1994) at home. He was born in Jacksonville and came here in 1947. He was president of Nu-Air Window Manufacturing for 40 years. He was past deputy district governor of the Lions Club and was instrumental in founding the Palma Ceia and Ybor City Lions Clubs. He was a World War II veteran and a commercial pilot. Survivors include his wife, Mildred Carswell Fouts; three sons, Kenneth and Raymond, both of Bradenton, and Louis, Atlanta; a daughter, Kay Preston, Redlands, Calif.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. It's odd to me that Fred left a family business in Jacksonville to move and start over in Tampa. He moved to Tampa in 1947. I did find an Ellen Fouts divorcing from a John Wiley Wright, Jr. in Duval County but can't access the file since I don't have an ancestry.com subscription - and apparently, this John Wiley Wright,, Jr had divorces a couple of other women in Duval Co. as well. I was wondering if maybe Ellen could have had children with him, that she may have adopted out if he left?? But who knows, I don't even have a divorce date. The only 'Ellen' I found in the SSDI with the same dob as my Ellen and SS issued in FL was an Ellen Brown, so I have been trying to dig that up as well. Interestingly, as I have been trying to research Louis Denham Fouts I keep coming up with what *possibly* looks like a VERY interesting character (ummm.....just type "denham fouts" into Yahoo, there's a wikipedia article). IF it is the same Louis Denham, he would have died in 1948. But, he may not have had any children due to his lifestyle - and if he did, I'm not sure they would have been located in FL in order to be adopted by family members. Ken had a brother (still living) that was born around 1946 so he would not be in the 1945 census with Ken and both boys were adopted prob bef 1950 from the Tampa Children's Home. FL -- Louis Fouts and Mary Denham, son, age 15 Ellen, dau., age 14 Frederick, son, age 11 If you Google Denham Fouts, you will get an eye-opener and plenty of info on the son Denham: Denham Fouts (c. 1914 - 1949) was an American male prostitute, socialite and literary muse. He served as the inspiration for characters by Truman Capote, Gore Vidal, Christopher Isherwood and Gavin Lambert. Also, I could not find a Florida marriage in the name of Ellen Fouts or any female FOUTS in Duval Co. for the right time period. Frederic Fouts married in 1938 in Duval. I'm afraid I may be at a dead end with Ellen but perhaps you can learn more about Denham's family and his sister because he seems to have been quite famous - or infamous. What started this was my discovery of the record of a Hillsborough Co. FL divorce between John Harry Bishop and Joyce Fouts in 1943. I found the FL marriage record in Polk Co. FL of J. Harry Bishop and Joyce Azalene Fouts in 1938. I located a family tree that contained Joyce Azalene Fouts, b. Apr 2, 1917, d. Apr 7, 2003, Lakeland, FL. This is found at Ancestry. com and I'll be happy to send you the submittor info if you don't have access to this info. They are showing Joyce's husband as Charles Arthur Ward and their marriage date of Jan 29, 1946 (no location). They show the parents of Joyce as Aaron Gieger Fouts (1891-1977) and Ethel Lanier (1895-1951). I did locate Aaron with his dau. Joyce in the Florida census (1920 Hillsborough Co., Plant City) and in Lakeland, Polk Co. FL in the 1930 census. I could not locate a FL marriage record between Joyce and Charles. I then located John Harry Bishop in the FL. state 1945 census in Tampa, Hillsborough Co. and he is in the Army. He is age 37, born SC, and with him is Hilda Peed, age 31, GA. Now here is where it gets interesting. I found TWO Florida marriages between John Harry Bishop and Hilda Henrietta Peed - the first is in 1943 in Duval Co. and the second is in 1945 in Pinellas Co. This is what I wondering --- John Harry Bishop married Joyce Fouts in 1938. Then he and Joyce divorced in 1943. Then John married Hilda - either in 1943 or 1945 or both? Was Joyce pregnant with Kenneth or had she recently given birth to Kenneth when she and John split? When Joyce married Charles Arthur Ward in 1946 -- perhaps there was no mention of a son Kenneth in the family tree submitted to Ancestry or her former marriage because it was Joyce's secret?
