Author: pickinguptwigs Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.florida.counties.hillsborough/1564.1.2.2.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The pension record that you mention is from the "Act of July 4th, 1836" that gave five years of half-pay to widows and children under 16 years of age, under certain conditions. This act was passed by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America. To read more about it, see: http://www.genealogy-quest.com/pensions/acts/4-July-1836.html The specific qualifying wars/military engagements are not mentioned at this link. I viewed the pension record and it mentions five years of payments to the child of Isham Munden dated July 28, 1841 - July 28, 1846 which were paid in full in the 4th quarter of 1860. From the record that I viewed, no other information can be gleaned from this record except that the "agency of payment" was Tallahassee, Florida. I assume from the record I viewed that Isham Munden is the father's name (the pension index image reads "Munden, Isham (child of)" and that he is deceased. The 1850 federal census record enumerates a Isham Munden, age 14, in the household of Allen & Elizabeth Munden. This Isham Munden is the approximate age to be the Isham A.Munden who later enlisted in the Civil War in Co. C., Florida Infantry (Confederate) as a private in August 1861 at age 23 (according to muster rolls). There is nothing concrete at this point to positively tie Isham Munden of the three records together, but it certainly bears more research considering the unusual name. Recently, I cam across this video on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztsdtYUTqfE I would like to get in touch with a family member of Dr. Harris in the hopes of exchanging information and family photos. I would also like any addition information about Dr. Harris that any one can share. I only knew about Dr. from his father Richard C. Harris's obituary. Dr. Harris also had a brother named Roy C. Harris which I would also like information on. I would like to know what cemetery Dr. Harris is buried in and his brother Roy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have birth dates that may be too late for Elizabeth Munden b1804, Allen B Munden b1816, and Caroline Munden b1823 for them to be the children as shown on the census. I didn't know of Ann Munden or William. Do you have their birthdates. I am also looking for information on Isham A Munden seen on the 1850 US (Marion FL) census. The census doesn't give relation to head of household. Isham is too old to be Elizabeth Prevatt Munden's son. He could be Allen B Munden's son (by another marriage) or younger brother. There is an interesting FL pension record showing the recipient as Isham Munden, Child of_____. The dates of the pension are Jul 1841 thru July 1846 (if I'm reading it correctly) I have a date of death for Isham A Munden as July 1969 from the FL Peninsular Newspaper dated 7/28/1869 His death is after serving in the civil war-but the pension dates are before the war. Confusing to me.. So, how would Isham Munden qualify for a pension? Does anyone have any thoughts? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I have Elizabeth Munden, Wayne Co., GA d. of Emanuel and Rebecca, born 1804, who married 1. David Edward Kemp in 1819 (he disappears after 1820s) and 2. Chesley D. Hill in 1831. (From Huxford's Wiregrass Pioneers of GA). I am looking for a connection between the Munden's and Walker's. Elizabeth Munden's father (Emanuel) allegedly married Rebecca Walker. Emanuel is listed on the 1790 Wayne Co., GA Census as head of Household containing 9 children, 2 adults and one slave. I know of 4 possibly 4 of their children, Elizabeth (Kemp/Hill), Allen B. (married Prevatt), Caroli5e (Dennison), Ann (Wilson) and possibly William. Hope this helps. P.s. Elizabeth also had an aunt with the same name who married a Joyner.
